Tomorrow's world is staring you in the face, in the form of a 13-foot-tall robot capable of fitting a human pilot inside. Japanese robot enthusiasts have begun building that futuristic vision — and they have several clever ideas for controlling the nearly five-ton robot in ways that evoke different science fiction films.
Here's one heck of a toy for the big boys: a 3.8-meter (about 12 feet) mecha that can be controlled by a smartphone and a Kinect motion-activated game accessory.

Tokyo has been taken over by this giant robot - which is tasked with standing guard outside the country's newest tourist attraction. The 18metre Gundam has taken pride of place in front of the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza complex - which houses the theme park of the animation series bearing the same name.
